Cindy Kay Pollard

Cindy Kay (Youree) Pollard was born in Nampa, Idaho on March 30, 1956 to Lee Roy and Dorothy (Diemer)  Youree.   She was the second of three children.

The family moved to Casper, Wyoming when she was two years old.  Her father worked for the Postal Service and her mother was primarily a homemaker. 

Growing up she attended the schools in Casper, Wyoming graduating from Natrona County High School in 1974.  She enjoyed school.  After school she worked as a cashier at Safeway and Osco Buttrey.

In 1986 she met Gary Pollard.  They were married November 30, 1986.  They moved to Colorado in the Spring of 1987.  They settled in Greeley.  She expressed interest in furthering her education.  She went to Aims and then to UNC graduating with a Bachelor in History. 

While attending college she worked for a group home housing special needs adults.  There she met Eric Magnuson.  He needed a safer place to live so since February 1990 he has lived with the Pollards. 

Taking care of Eric and Gary became her full time job.  They moved from Greeley to Wiggins than eighteen years ago to Otis.

She loved all animals.  Living in Greeley Gary half joked that if someone released the cattle from Monforts you would find out where Cindy was.  Cats, dogs, eagles, owls and chickens attracted her.  At the time of her passing there were ten cats and two dogs in the house.  The cats are at a loss also. 

Her interests included needle point, word search puzzles, old country music and rides in the country.  They would drive by a house a talk about what it needed.  Looking for wildlife and watching owls nest and the young mature fascinated her.  Gary collected stuffed animals for her and she collected cook books, novels and needle point supplies. 

Cindy is survived by her husband, Gary and Eric Magnuson; her brother, Jerry and his wife, Laura and niece, Nicki; cousins, Pam (Susie) Staton and Scott Staton. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mike. 

Cindy died in her sleep at her home after a short illness on October 1, 2023.

Donations in her name can be made to Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah. 

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Baucke Funeral Chapel in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Mike Fitzsimmons officiating.  Interment will follow at the Otis Cemetery in Otis, Colorado.
