Carol B. Koontz was born on November 9, 1929 to Lee A. and Cora (Warner) Davis in Chillicothe, Missouri. She passed away on May 21, 2020 at the Haxtun Hospital District Extended Care Unit at the age of 90 years old.
Carol graduated from High School. Carol was employed as a dispatcher of the Westminster Police Department, executive secretary of the Cattle Association and Holyoke Chamber of Commerce Director.
Carol married M.E. “Pete” Koontz in November of 1972. Pete passed away in June of 1988.
Carol served the community in several different capacities on the Agenda Club, Holyoke Library Board, Red Cross Director for Phillips County. She loved antiques, was a history buff and an avid reader. Carol was proud of obtaining the Heginbotham Library State and National Historical Society Designation due to her extensive work in the filing process.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Cora and Lee Davis; brother, Del Davis; grandson, Justin Strode and husband, Pete Koontz.
Carol is survived by her son, Bruce Bonner and wife, Kaylene of Thornton, Colorado; daughter, Paula Strode of Holyoke, Colorado; granddaughters, Heather Wilkenson and Amanda Bonner; sister-in-law, Cheryl Davis, nieces, Tara, Theresa, Tamatha and Traci along with several friends.
Memorial donations may be made in Carol’s memory to the Heginbotham Library, First Baptist Church and the Haxtun Nursing Home.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Jeremiah Krieger officiating. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
