Britani LeAnne Meek was born on September 18, 1998, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to her proud parents, Fred and Rolinda Meek. Her sister, Latricia was excited about having a sister and was always a doting sibling. Britani adored her older sister and, as a toddler, followed her wherever she led. Britani was an active child who was always up for a difficult challenge, whether it was learning the fine art of spinning on her head or climbing up the door archway like a little bare-footed monkey. She was also artistic from an early age, using her skills to draw you a picture if you couldn’t understand what she wanted to tell you.
As she grew older, Britani took up other sports like rollerblading, basketball, and volleyball. She and her dad shared a love for fishing, and each Summer, they would race each other to the lake or pond, fishing poles in hand, to try and see who would catch the biggest fish. Her dad also taught her how to water ski, another sport she took to with ease. She spent a lot of time with her sister, Latricia, and her brother-in-law, Joseph. She and Joseph would skateboard in the Yuma Park together, their antics always ended in lots of laughter. She was looking forward to becoming an aunt and meeting her nephew, Evan.
Britani was musically inclined as well. She taught herself how to play the guitar and a few songs on the piano and she adored Keith Urban. In school, her favorite subjects were Math and Science. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she loved creating unique, gothic costumes each year. As she grew older, she took up hiking, rock collecting, and playing pool. She was a hard worker who was mechanically inclined and could often be found working on her car or doing home maintenance for her grandma, to whom she was a caregiver. And she dreamed of someday owning her own motorcycle.
Britani had the biggest heart and was always willing to help others, no matter what they might need. She spent a lot of time with her family and made friends easily; as the saying goes, Britani never met a stranger and she could charm anyone. She always thought outside the box, like the time she wondered what a toilet swirly might feel like and actually tried it! She had a great sense of humor and a smile that would brighten everyone’s day.
Tragically, Britani passed away on November 22, 2023 in Yuma, Colorado, at the young age of 25. Her bigger-than-life personality made so many people love her, and we will all miss her and her big, contagious laugh greatly.
Britani was preceded in death by her father, Fred Meek; nephew, Jake Browers and McChicken Blob (unborn child); brothers Christopher and Robert Meek; grandpas, Stan Meek, Norm Garland, and LeRoy White.
Britani is Survived by her mother, Rolinda Meek of Emporia, Kansas; sister, Latricia and Joseph Browers and nephew, Evan Browers of Farmington, Missouri; grandmothers, Liz Garland of Walsenburg, Colorado, and Mardell White of Yuma, Colorado, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
