Billy Joe passed away on April 7th, 2021 in Johnstown, Colorado after a short illness that he couldn’t fight off. He was born February 10, 1941 in Yuma, Colorado to Vernie and Carrie Allen.
Billy Joe lived most of his life in Yuma working on the family farm south of Yuma. He had a few small business ventures through the years selling metal buildings, garage doors, and lawn treatments.
He graduated from Yuma High School in 1959. He then worked for a short time for Martin Marietta in Denver. He then enlisted in the Army in 1963, and he was honorably discharged in 1969. He was stationed in Fort Hood, Texas where he served as a military police officer. Billy Joe then moved back to Yuma to take over the family farm where he worked until his retirement.
Billy Joe married Rhonda Nau on December 7, 1968. To this union 3 children were born: Brendy, Brett, and Breann. He loved his family. He would drive wherever he could to visit with his kids and grandkids. They were his pride and joy.
Billy Joe is preceded in death by his wife Rhonda; parents Vernie and Carrie Allen; sisters Cora Bates and Mildred Baker; father and mother in law Walter and Gladyce Nau; brother in law Dalen Nau; and niece Carolyn Johnston.
Billy Joe is survived by his children: son Brendy and Amy of Yuma; son Brett and Carrie of Yuma; daughter Breann and Joe of Greeley; five grandchildren; Tyler, Erin, and Kerri Allen of Yuma; Kaden and Alainey Robles of Greeley; brother in law Jerrel Nau of Tucson, AZ; nephew Elmer Bates (Joanne) of Wood River, Illinois; and niece Judy Owens of Monroe Township, NJ.
