Bijie Ann Wernet was born in Little River, Kansas on October 31, 1932. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Fred Wernet and Lena (Knackstedt) Wernet. Bijie passed away January 8, 2026 at age of 93.

At the age of 10 Bijie moved with her mother and her brother Boyce to Holyoke, Colorado. Bijie attended school in Holyoke and graduated from Phillips County High School with the class of 1951.

While in High School she met Archie Douglass. Archie enlisted in the United States Air Force. Archie and Bijie were married at Amarillo Air Force Base on August 17, 1952. To this Union two daughters were born- Bijie "Roxann" and Diana Lynn. Roxann was born while Archie was in Korea. Bijie loved being an Air Force wife and completed numerous certificate courses through the Air Force. Archie returned to the States and was transferred with his family to Ellsworth Air Force Base in Rapid City, S.D.  After Archie passed away in 1959, Bijie and the girls returned to Holyoke to be close to family.

After returning to Holyoke,  Bijie met James Deane Anderson. He had served in the United States Navy during WWII. Bijie had a lot of respect for those serving in the military.

Deane and Bijie were married Sept. 4, 1960 at the Anderson house in Holyoke. Deane brought his two girls into the family- Diana Lee and Shirley Rae. In 1964, Deane, Bijie & the 4 girls welcomed the 5th girl, Elisa Cheryl, into the family.

Bijie started working alongside Deane at Gambles which later became known as Anderson Hardware. They retired in 1990.

Bijie accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age. She was very active in the Christian church.  She served in many different ways in the church. She was very hospitable opening her house to numerous choirs or missionaries at the church. She always welcomed friends of her daughters whether they spent the night or a few months.

Bijie was also very active in local clubs & civic organizations. Like Eastern Star, Willing Helpers, Caring & Sharing and BPW. Her hobby was sewing & she was quite a seamstress having sewn the wedding dresses for each of the 5 girls.

Bijie had always wanted to be a nurse and her love for taking care of people was very apparent as she dealt with the girls whenever they were sick. She cared for her in-laws, Ralph and Hazel Anderson and Dale Anderson in their later years. She also helped care for her former mother-in-law, Irene Douglass. She was with Shirley as she lost her battle with cancer.  She was always right there for Deane as he struggled with Parkinsons Disease during his last few years. When she first moved in to the assisted living she gave massages to other residents.

Deane and Bijie celebrated 52 years of marriage before his death in October, 2012.

Bijie moved to the Carriage House in 2014. As her physical health  began to deteriorate and she began to struggle with Alzheimers disease she was moved to Regent Park. We as her family wish to thank the staff at both facilities for the loving care shown to our mom.  We also want to express our gratitude to Uncle Boyce and his late wife Yvonne Wernet for the love & care they showed as they tirelessly looked after her.

Bijie passed away January 8, 2026. She is survived by her daughters Diana Lee Crystal of Scottsbluff, NE;

Roxann Enabnit of Toronto, KS;  Diana Lynn (Mel) Enabnit of Great Bend, KS;  Elisa (Jim) Wilson of Grand Junction, CO.  Other survivors include her brother Boyce Wernet, 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
