Betty (Sherwood) Dix

Betty Dix passed away at Regent Park in Holyoke, Colorado on Monday, November 30 at the age of 92. Betty was born to parents Melvin and Hilda Sherwood on June 27, 1928 south of Paoli, CO. She grew up on the family farm and attended Broadway School, a one-room country school south of Paoli, and Haxtun High School. On September 23, 1945, she married Jack Dix of Haxtun. The couple raised five children on the family farm southwest of Haxtun. Betty helped her husband operate the farm raising dryland wheat and cattle until they moved to Haxtun in 1985. She was an active member of the Haxtun Berean Bible Church where she helped with the AWANA program and taught Sunday School. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents, Melvin and Hilda, and brothers Leo and Orval Sherwood, son Dan and grandson Christopher Dix. Betty is survived by her children Charles and Margaret Dix of Auburn , ME, Nancy and Don Skaggs of Ft. Collins, Douglas and Philomena Dix of Fleming, Jeanne and Dave McClain of Haxtun, and daughter-in-law Kathy Dix of Haxtun. She had 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren
