Patty Brophy

Patty Brophy was born on December 5, 1928 in Denver, Colorado to Jim and Blanche (Kyle) Kelley.  She died June 10, 2017 at Yuma Life Care Center.  She was raised with one brother, Jack Kelley, who was 18 months younger than her.  They spent their grade school years in Evans, Colorado living in the family home with Blanche’s sister Veda Fuerstock and her husband Rea.  Her junior high school years were spent in Hammon, Oklahoma and she graduated from high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming in 1946.  She attended Colorado Teachers College (now UNC), and graduated with her bachelors degree in 1950.

After graduating she moved to Eckley, Colorado to teach high school.  One of her students, Loretta Brophy Ralph, set her up on a blind date with her unmarried brother, Paul Brophy.  They were married September 25, 1951 in Greeley, Colorado and made their home north of Eckley, where Paul was engaged in farming.

From that point on she kept her self busy raising children and volunteering.  She was active in Saint Johns Catholic Church and was President of DACCW.  She also volunteered at Pleasant Valley Ladies Aide, Farmers Union, Jane Jeffersons, VFW Auxillary, Meals on Wheels, and other various organizations.  She enjoyed watching her children and grand children in their many activities, especially YHS sports.  Her hobbies were playing bridge, reading, participating in community theatre, cross stitching (many of which she donated for fund raisers), traveling the world (especially with Heritage Club), and taking her daughters and grand daughter on annual shopping trips.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, infant son Donald Eugene, son Lyle, grandson Gene Kinnison, and son in laws Geno Dahl and Rick Kinnison. She was also preceded in death by her brother Jack and wife Hilda Kelley, and in laws, Mary Church, Agnes and Carl Lauridson, Tom Brophy, Judy and Sid Veto, Jack Easton, Bob Shapard, John and Betty Jo Brophy, Dorthy Brophy, Gene Brophy, Mary Lou Brophy, Rob Brophy, Charles Brophy, and Lorretta and Bill Ralph.

She is survived by her children Rhonda Kinnison of Erie, Colorado, Diane and Larry White of Brighton, Colorado,  Alice Dahl, Joe Brophy of Yuma, Colorado, and Don and Stacy Brophy of Eckley, Colorado. Grandchildren Becky Kinnison (Jeff Cleveland), Dave Kinnison, Matt Brophy, Dakota Dahl (Laura Flores), Rachel and Tony Rodriquez, Mike and Missy White, Don White, Levi White, Annsley Brophy and finance Jonathan Ferrari, Madison Brophy, Paul Brophy, and Blaze Brophy. Great grandchildren Remo and Casper Rodriquez and one baby White on the way.  In laws Betty Shapard, Jim Brophy, and Des Brophy and many FAVORITE nieces and nephews.

Roserary will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church, Yuma, Colorado.  Mass of Christain Burial will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St Johns Catholic Church, Yuma, Colorado.  Memorials may be sent to Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes. Funeral arrangements made by Baucke Funeral Home.
