Troy Higgins Obituary

Troy Leon Higgins was born on January 7, 1966, in Wray, Colorado. Son of Paul Theodor Higgins, and Jennie Jean Higgins. Troy married Diana Lynn Melroy on June 3, 1992. Troy was baptized into Christianity and he maintained his relationship with the lord by attending Assembly of God and Freedom Fellowship Church, of Yuma.

 

Troy graduated from Yuma County High School.

 

Diana and Troy became foster parents in 1999. At that time, they took on raising their two nephews, Dustin Melroy Sr., and Austin Peterson as well as their niece, Ashley Melroy. They took on a foreign exchange student from Germany in 2001 and 2002.

 

Troy worked as a grounds keeper for the Yuma County Cemetery in his young adult life. Troy then worked on the Hog Farm and was a truck driver. Troy was a Washington and Yuma County Sheriffs Posse member. Troy and Diana moved to Denver, Colorado where he worked for Walmart for approximately five years. After his brother-in-law Danny Meyer passed away in 2005 they moved back to Yuma in 2007. In 2008 they took in Tamiera and Dalton Meyer and later adopted them on February 22, 2008.

 

Troy married Donna Jean Pinner on January 27, 2018  and began attending church at the Prairie Home Baptist Church, of Haxtun. Troy sponsored the Christian Motorcycle Assostication.

Troy Leon Higgins entered eternal life on September 12, 2019 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado.

Troy is survived by his second wife Donna Jean Pinner Higgins of Haxtun, his son Dalton Meyers of Haxtun, daughter Tamiera Goolsby of Arkansas, Children: Aleia, Delilah, his son-in-law Logan Dale Gift, his brothers Lyle and Linda Dinsmore of Otis, Harvey and Roxanne Dinsmore of Oregon, Merl and Janice Dinsmore of Anton and sister Eva and Ted Manzanares of Denver, sister-in-law Sharon Calimponga and Laurie.

Niece: Tammy and Tarril Adlesperger of Sterling, Children Elijah, Charlotte, Elizabeth. Niece: Tracy and Don Collins of Otis, Children: Courtney, James, Samantha. Nephew Travis and Heidi Dinsmore of Wray, Children: Marie, Bentley, Cooper. Nephew Jason Dinsmore of Yuma. Niece Marsha and Kevin Jesse of Akron, Children: Conner and Makenna. Nephew Casey and Katie Dinsmore of Yuma Children: Brynlee Faith. Nephew John and Kary Manzanares of Denver, Children: David and Lauren. Niece Jessica and Brandon Jochim of Lakewood, Children: Michael, Emily, Samantha, Peyton. Nephew Rich and Melissa Waren of Texas, Nephew Neil and Falicia Waren of Arvada and numerous aunts and uncles.

Mother-in-law Lucille (Meyer) Melroy and Step-father Lloyd Peterson of Yuma. Sister-in-law Cynthia Melroy Mendoza and Curtis David of Otis. Brother-in-law Christopher Melroy of Haxtun and Brother-in-law Jason Peterson of Greeley.

Troy is preceded in death by his father Paul Thedford Higgins, father-in-law Charlie Bonn, Mother Jennie Jean Bonn, wife Diana Lynn Higgins, Grandfather Donald and Roena Higgins, Grandfather Arthur and Alice McCall, Brother-in-Law Danny Meyer, Nephew Riley Jochim along with other relatives and friends.

The memorial service was held on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rick Riley, Clint Monk and Reverend Jonathan Prescott officiating. Inurnment to follow at the Yuma Cemetery. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
