Roy Louis Foster

Roy Louis Foster was born on December 26, 1946 to Louis Pearl Foster and Edna Jane (Rawson) Foster in Wray, Colorado.  He passed away on August 22, 2019 at his home in Yuma, Colorado, at the age of 72. 

Roy attended grade school in Eckley, Colorado, during his high school years he attended Olathe High School and onto college at Minot College in North Dakota where he played football and wrestled. 

Roy married Wanda Lou Church on July 24, 1970 in Grand Junction, Colorado and to this unions, three children were born, Lori, Scott and Christopher. 

Roy and Wanda farmed on the family farm near Orchard, Colorado with his dad for several years, then he moved to Nucla, Colorado and worked in the mines as a mechanic. After his mother became sick, they decided to move to Yuma, Colorado to pursue farming again along with working at Monforts at the feed mill. 

Roy loved hunting, fishing and always had time to enjoy a good margarita; His favorite past time however was spending time with his children and grandchildren. 

Roy was a man of many talents with a diverse set of skills.  During high school he began his sporting career, starting with basketball where he soon found out that was not the right fit for him.  This lead him to try his hand at football and wrestling which really let his talent shine.  In wrestling he had a record of 23 -1 and made the state tournament all four years of his high school career.  He was offered many college scholarships to wrestle and play football which he gladly honored.  After college he went on to serve his country in the Army from October 1967 to August 1970.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda; parents Edna and Louis Foster; grandson Zack Newbury; sister, Merna Phelps and husband, Jerry; his in-laws, Sylvia and Paul Church.

Roy is survived by his children, Lori Newbury and husband, Lance grandchildren, Josh, Stephanie, Ashley, Kristen and Austin; son, Scott Foster and wife, Jamie and grandson, Gaberia and son, Christopher Foster and wife, Brittany and grandson, Reece and granddaughter, Briar; sister, Christine Stizman and husband, Jerry, nephews and nieces, Curt , Sharry, Jerry bob, Brian, Lynnette, Gary Lee and Becky along with numerous other relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Jaime Nieves of the Yuma United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will follow at the Yuma Cemetery.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
