Pamela Dresen Obituary

Pamela Kay Shaw Dresen was born March 4th, 1946 to Harry Augusta Shaw and Leila Luella Felderman Shaw in a small hospital a few blocks from where she currently had resided.  Since she was born early and so small her parents moved into a small 2 room house behind Leila’s parents’ home to be closer to the doctor. She was kept warm by placing her on the oven door as a makeshift incubator.

Eventually, Pam, her older sister Claudia and her parents moved back to their family farm in the New Haven area.

Pam went to school in Fleming, Colorado. Where she played accordion and saxophone in the high school band.

Going to the Yuma Theater was a thing she loved as a teenager.  Little did she know she would meet a handsome young man that she would one day call her husband.  Edward Roy Dresen Jr. was that man.  They were married December 20, 1965.  They moved to Fort Carson where Ed was stationed in the Army.  After his discharge they moved back to Yuma,CO.

March 30,1967 they became proud parents of their first child, Crystal Dawn Dresen.  Sixteen months later they welcomed their second daughter Brenda Holly Dresen.  Pam now had her hands full with 2 small girls but they were always by her side.  Little did they know that a little redheaded girl would complete their family. Tina Marie Dresen was born June 12th, 1973.

Summer weekends were spent at either Stalker Lake or Bonny Dam with her family where Pam loved to fish.

Raising 3 girls was a handful but Pam did it with grace.  She took on a part-time job at the Yuma Post Office as a custodian to help support her family.

As her family grew and moved on to start their new lives Pam found a new past time, “Bowling”. Two to three nights a week you could find her at the local bowling alley.

After the death of her father, Pam moved her mother in their home and cared for her.  She still found time to work in a bowling night here or there.

After the unexpected death of her true love Ed, Pam eventually found her new past time, ”Bingo”. Her and her friends would travel to other towns just to play.  She was a lucky lady and would almost always win something.

After a sudden illness Pam passed away at her home in Yuma, Colorado on December 28, 2018.

Pam is preceded in death by her husband Edward R. Dresen, Jr., father Harry Shaw, her mother Leila Shaw, her sister Claudia Behrendsen and niece Gwen Behrendsen.

Pam is survived by daughter Crystal and husband Kelly Pickett of Yuma, CO., daughter Holly and husband Dave Metzler of Dodge City, KS and daughter Tina Dresen of Yuma, CO., 9 grandchildren, Meghan, Garrett, Zach, Anton, Corie, Courtney, Johanna, Sharaika and Benji, 10 great grandchildren, Tycie, Peyton, Kaydence, Hadley, Dominic, Zoey, Carver, Noah, Nevaeh and Everleigh and nephew Bryan Behrendsen of Tampa, FL.
