Myrna Marie Scruby

1937  ~  2017

Myrna was born to Francis Finley and Maudie Clair Finley on April 5, 1937. She was delivered on a farm near Vona, CO by her grandma Carrie.

Myrna attended school at Joes and Eckley and told stories of riding horses and walking a few miles to school with her two brothers Jack and Duane and twin sisters Ilene and Arlene.

She met her soulmate Lester at the Yuma County Fair where Les said "I'm gonna marry her someday". And they were married January 31, 1954. To this union three children were born: son Vince and two daughters Becky and Sherry.

Myrna went by many names-daughter, wife, mother but probably the name she  cherished most was grandma. Not only did her own grandchildren call her grandma but any kid within 50 miles did also. She was Kirks' Grandma.

There wasn't a program or sports event she would miss of her kids or grandkids.

Myrna enjoyed helping Les on the farm and milking cows. She loved cooking baking, and feeding anyone who happen to stop by at  supper time. She always set an extra plate and made them feel welcome.

One of Myrna's many passions was sewing. She sewed many of the girls outfits as well as their wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses.

Flowers and gardening kept her busy. As well as canning and making homemade jams and jellies. Myrna loved traveling, especially her trips to Alaska with Les.

Myrna taught cooking in 4-H, creating a cupcake recipe that took a first place ribbon at the state fair. Other hobbies included basket weaving, sewing club and cards. She was an active member in the Kirk United Methodist Church serving as Sunday School teacher and Bible school teacher, treasurer and pianist for many years.

Myrna was happiest gathered around the dining room table with all her family. Her and Lester always put on a big Cajun boil every Christmas Eve which she  always looked forward to.

She continued to garden and make jams and jellies up to the time of her death.

Myrna passed away peacefully at her home June 27 surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Francis Finley and Maudie Finley,  brother Duane Finley, twin sisters Ilene Loftis and Arlene Marshall and great granddaughter Esther Seaman.

She is survived by her husband Lester of Kirk, son Vince Scruby and wife Julie of Wray, daughter Becky Seaman and husband Rodney of Joes, daughter Sherry Hill and husband Garold of Kirk, brother Jack Finley and wife Pearl of Firestone. Grandchildren Wade Scruby and wife Danille of Loveland, Jake Scruby and wife Sarah of Pierce, Mike Seaman and wife Joan of Denver, Mason Seaman of Flagler, Mickie Stallings and husband Darcy of Yuma. Great grandchildren Sydney and Madison Seaman, Cooper, Bex and Cambria Seaman, Olivia and Vinnie Scruby and Owen Stallings. And dog Molly.
