Lawana Browning Obituary

Lawana Lou (Boller) Browning was born on February 29, 1936 in Haxtun, Colorado to Lloyd Henry Boller and Marjorie Lillian (Wisdom) Boller.  She passed away on May 10, 2019 at Sterling Regional Medical Facility with her family by her side.

Lawana graduated from Phillips County High School in 1953.  On January 6, 1957 she married the love of her life, George “Slim” Browning in Holyoke, Colorado. Slim passed away on August 31, 2018.  Lawana and Slim lived and farmed with Slim’s parents Homer and Alice Browning, west of Imperial, Nebraska. They moved to Venango, Nebraska where Slim worked on a dairy farm until Pam was born. They then moved in with Lawana’s parents before moving into Holyoke. They were parents to two children, Pam and Richard.  They lived in Holyoke until 1995 when they moved back to her childhood farm home where they enjoyed returning to their country roots.

Lawana worked at the Dairy King in Holyoke making pies.  She also baked and decorated wedding and other special occasion cakes.  Occasionally her Mother, Marjorie would help with the baking and Pam and Richard would help with the mints, making it a true family endeavor.

Lawana also worked at K & N Energy as a cashier for 28 years.  She worked with Slim during wheat and corn harvest at Corn Inc., south of Holyoke, for many years after she retired from K & N Energy.  She also enjoyed helping her Dad, Lloyd during corn and wheat harvest before his passing.

Lawana was a member of Rainbow Girls, VFW Auxiliary, Business and Professional Women, she was also Co-Chairman and Treasurer of the Holyoke Alumni Association.

Lawana enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, traveling with Slim and other family members, cooking, baking and especially making homemade noodles with her grandchildren.  She also liked doing needlework crafts.

Lawana was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Marjorie Boller, husband George “Slim” Browning and brother Marvin Boller.

Lawana is survived by daughter Pam and husband Frithjof “Fritz” Dammann of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Son, Richard and wife Debra Browning of Sterling, Colorado.  Grandchildren, Mason “Jesse” and wife Tina Reed of Kearney, Nebraska; Collette and husband Michael Shifflett of Dickenson, North Dakota; Christopher and wife Amber Browning of Ramona, California; and Courtney N. Dammann of Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Great grandchildren: Bryson Reed, Natalie Browning, Eythan Browning, Elizabeth Shifflett, Nova Reed, Joshua Shifflett, Sylus Reed, Jackson Shifflett and Avery Reed along with many other relatives and friends.
