Keli Dee Thinnes of Otis, Colorado was born on February 23, 2001 in Greeley, Colorado and was adopted by Nancy Thinnes on March 20, 2007. She passed away on February 23, 2019 at Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital in Denver, Colorado at the age of 18.
When Keli was adopted she gained a family that God chose for her. She had fun on family vacations, enjoyed holiday celebrations especially Christmas. She also enjoyed the love of her new extended family including grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
In her middle school years she tried a variety of sports including softball, track, volleyball and soccer. Keli was a senior at Yuma High School, she enjoyed her time in band and dance when Keli wasn’t at school you could find her working at Dairy Queen, spending time with friends and watching movies.
On February 13, 2019 Keli delivered a healthy baby boy and claimed her favorite title to date, MOM! It was love at first sight. Her time as mom was cut much shorter than anyone anticipated but she loved him fiercely and in him has left us a piece of her.
Keli is survived by her son Aiden Lee Baquera; mother Nancy Thinnes of Otis, CO; grandparents, Carol and Lee Thinnes of Yuma, CO; sisters, Bella Schroeder and daughter, Oaklynn of Roseau, MN; Catherine Voshel of Springfield, MO along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Keli is preceded in death by her grandmother, Dee Clark.
There will be a memorial service on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Southern Baptist Church in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Chris Mulder officiating. There will be a private family inurnment at a later date. Baucke funeral Home directed the service.
