Jennie Jean McCall was born on August 7th, 1930 in Yuma County Colorado. Daughter of Alice Capitola Chandler McCall, and Arthur Virgil McCall. Jennie Jean married Clarence John Dinsmore. To this union 4 children were born, Lyle Clarence, Harvey Ray, Merl Ernest, and Eva Marie. The second marriage was to Paul T. Higgins. One son was born to this union, Troy Leon. The third marriage was to Charles Emit Bonn…the love of her life!

Jennie Jean has 10 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren, which were her greatest pride and joy. Jennie Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Jennie would always help anyone who was in need. She belonged to the Lakewood Elks #1777 Ladies Elks Auxiliary club, and president of the Lions Clubs for 2 years, the President of the Rio Grande Railroad Club, and President and Secretary of the American Legion.

She and her family lived in Yuma, and Washington counties most of her life, and moved from one place to another. She went to county schools, and at 10 years old, she started working to help make a living for the family at home. She received an 8th grade graduation certificate along with holding a job. She was always concerned about her dear mother and siblings at home. She usually stayed home from school 2 days a week to help wash, and iron clothes, along with helping with the canning process of foods. The 30’s and 40’s were very hard times. Her family made their living off farming, gardening, and working. There were 10 children in the family. She and her twin brother Jess were the oldest. She took responsibility for looking after the younger children. She did hand work, for many childhood years. She taught school one quarter of the year south of Yuma. In later years, she was a den mother for the Royal Ranger Boys group. She camped, cooked, and kept good manners of each boy in the camp. She was a member of a Home Demonstration Club, and

she donated works to the Yuma Nursing Homes. She also cleaned houses, Churches, officebuildings, and did café work. In 1970, she owned and operated a café of her own for several years. Due to sickness, Jennie and Paul sold the café equipment. Later, after her 2nd divorce, she took up caring of elderly family, and an elderly couple in Yuma, Colorado. She did all of the work inside and outside of their home. She lived with the elderly couple. After the elderly couple’s deaths, she moved to Denver to help take care of 2 small grandchildren. Then in 1991 she met her 3rd husband, Charles Emit Bonn. They were married February 14th, 1993. They went on several cruises. The honeymoon trip was to the Bahamas, Canada, and Alaska, and the trips connected Jennie and Charles with his family and friends.

Jennie Jean was baptized into the Nazarene religion as a small child, and attended the Nazarene church in Yuma, Colorado. Jennie and Charles were married at Green Acres Nazarene Church located in Denver, Colorado. Jennie Jean is remembered as Jeanne to many people.
