James “Jim” Comer, Jr. was born on January 20, 1935 to James Comer, Sr. and Ella (Bauer) Comer in Brule, Nebraska. He passed away on December 11, 2018, at the age of 83, at the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.
Jim went to school in Brule, Nebraska both grade school and high school all twelve years. Jim served his country in the US Army from 1955 – 1958. He served in Korea as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic.
Jim married Rosie (Sanders) Comer on March 23, 1968 in Denver, Colorado. Jim and Rosie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this past March and renewed their vows at the Catholic Church in Holyoke, Colorado along with an open house with family and friends.
Jim owned and operated his own business “Comer Electric” for forty years. Jim was an avid Denver Bronco and Nuggets fan. He loved to golf and travel. He enjoyed playing games with his family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ella Comer; son, Dan Comer; sister, Maxine Kipp and brother-in-law, Joe Kipp.
Jim is survived by his wife of fifty years, Rosie; daughter, Debby Banaka and son-in-law, Jerry of Holyoke, Colorado; son, Erv Comer and daughter-in-law, Melanie of Queen Creek, Arizona; grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband, Brent of Hawley, Minnesota; Larry Banaka of Sterling, Colorado; Christina Banaka of Holyoke, Colorado; Megan Comer of Denver. Colorado and Miles Comer of Queen Creek, Arizona; great grandchildren, Lili and Lucy Vasquez of Holyoke, Colorado and Lexus and Juniper Banaka of Sterling, Colorado; sisters, Mary Lou Crews and husband, Paul of Brule, Nebraska and Lois Schuett of Kearney, Nebraska; brother, Kenny Comer and wife, Fran of Brule, Nebraska; a very special daughter-in-law, Janice Comer and special sister-in-law, Betty Lanckriet along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Rosary was held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church and a memorial service on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Jerry Rohr officiating. The inurnment will be at the Julesburg Cemetery in Julesburg, Colorado at 1:00 p.m. Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
