Howard “Howie” Wayne Miller, 62, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Howard was born January 12, 1957 in Berthoud, Colorado to Marvin and Zella (Tucker) Miller. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1975. On January 24, 1976 he married the love of his life, Marlene Brunkhardt.
Howard was an integral part of the local agriculture community as he took great pride in the construction of steel buildings and grain bins. He also serviced center pivot irrigation systems. He enjoyed the freedom of being his own boss and was truly gifted with his hands. Any construction or maintenance project that needed done both on the job or around the house, was done to perfection, no matter how long it took. In his spare time, Howard loved to ride dirt bikes and was proud that both of his sons picked up his love of the sport; including all the crashes, bruises and stories that came along with racing. Any weekend spent with his friends and family was guaranteed to be a good time. Whether it was golfing, fishing, or watching a NASCAR race, Howard was there with his quick wit and contagious smile.
Howard is survived by his mother, Zella Miller of Sterling, CO, wife Marlene Miller (Brunkhardt) of Yuma, CO, his two sons, Travis Miller and his wife Amanda of Yuma, CO, and Eric Miller and his wife Jenny of Greeley, CO; his grandson, Kenny Wayne Miller, his brothers Mike Miller and wife Carol of Sterling, CO, Bart Miller and wife Jolene of Green Valley, AZ, Warren Miller and wife Melinda of Loveland, CO, and Jeff Miller and wife Theresa of Sterling, CO and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 23 at Irrigation Research Farm, 40161 Hwy 59, Yuma, CO. This location is special, as it was chosen because Howard helped construct this building and was very proud of this project. Memorial donations can be made to Marlene Miller (1026 S. Ash, Yuma, CO 80759) to contribute to Howard’s grandchildren’s college funds.
