Erma Fay Murphy

 Erma Fay (Mekelburg) Murphy was born to this world on September 2, 1927. She blessed her parents William and Elizabeth (Klein) Mekelburg as the youngest of five children. Erma Fay graduated from Yuma Union High School and spent her entire life in Yuma. She married Robert Lee Murphy, the love of her life, on March 14, 1948. To this union was born Michael, Tracy, Toby, and Paula. As a dedicated and loving mother, Erma Fay never missed any event or activity in which her children participated. As an avid sports fan, it has been said that her voice was the loudest from the bleachers. She passed from this world on November 28, 2018, at Yuma Life Care.

Over the years, Erma Fay was employed as a self-taught bookkeeper in a variety of businesses in town, finishing her career at M&M Co-op after 28 years. She served this agricultural community with selflessness and dependability. She retired to be a Grandmother, to focus on her passion for painting, and to tend to her yard full of flowers.

Both parents preceded her in death, as well as brothers Stanley and Lawrence, and sister Evelyn. She suffered the passing of husband Bob and son Mike. Erma Fay is survived by her sister Nora, sister-in-law Margie Murphy, son Toby and wife Kathy Murphy, daughters Tracy and husband Bruce Zulauf, Paula and husband Rich Kline, and daughter-in-law Sandy Murphy. Grandchildren left behind include Chris and wife Kristel Jones, Kendall and wife Sharayah Murphy, Kimberly and husband Eloy Silva, Kyle and wife Amy Zulauf, Kory Zulauf, Jessi and husband Brad Hertzke, Bobby and wife Beckie Murphy, Scott and wife Courtnie Kline, Matt Kline, and Kevin Kline. Erma was blessed with ten greatgrandchildren, seven girls and three boys, with another baby boy due in March.

The funeral service was held on Monday, December 3, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Jamie Fiorino officiating.  Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.
