Elmer Dean Jacobs
1932 – 2018
Elmer Dean Jacobs was born on January 8, 1932 in Topeka, Kansas to Roy Pierce and Dona Henrietta (Gardner) Jacobs. He passed away on July 13, 2018 at his home in Haxtun, Colorado, at the age of 86.
Elmer graduated from Laird High School in Laird, Colorado. All of his further education was received from the Military. He joined the Air Force on April 25, 1952 and retired from the Air Force on May 31, 1972. In the military he served as a Staff Sergeant, he provided essential support to help his organization win the coveted Smith Trophy as the best air defense unit in the U. S. Air Force scoring 6930 points out of a possible 7000 points.
After retiring from the military in 1974 he worked for Highline Electric Association from February 1974 to January 1994.
Elmer loved golfing and bowling, he golfed in the summer and bowled in the winter.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dona H. Jacobs; son, Danny D. Jacobs and several brothers and sisters.
Elmer will be greatly missed by his significant other, Vera Billingsley, who was his best friend and companion for the last twenty-two years; Mike Jacobs of Florence, Arizona; Rodney Jacobs of Windsor, Colorado; Tanya Jacobs Wright of Fort Collins, Colorado; Richard Jacobs of Loveland, Colorado; Raymond Jacobs of Fort Collins, Colorado; Trent Brandt of Akron, Colorado along with other relatives and friends.
The memorial service was held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke, Colorado with Reverend Gary Rahe officiating. There will be an inurnment at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver, Colorado on July 30, 2018.
