Dorothy A. Klinzmann, 93, of Otis, Colorado, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018.
Dorothy was born on October 8, 1925 to Albert and Barbara (Gemaehlich) Klinzmann at their home in the Burdett community. She graduated from Lone Star High School in 1943. After high school, Dorothy took correspondence and night classes at Northeastern Junior College. She then continued her education at Colorado State College in Greeley (now known as University of Northern Colorado). Her first teaching job was at a little country school called Prairie Vale. She taught there for two years. For the next five years, she taught at another country school called Hillcrest. Finally she settled into teaching at Lone Star School where she taught kindergarten, first and second grades for 43 years. She retired from teaching in 1996.
Dorothy was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Otis. She taught vacation Bible school, Sunday school, and confirmation classes: and for many years she worked regularly with the youth group. She was also active in the St. Paul’s ladies group.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Walter, Adolph, and Albert. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 3, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Otis with Rev. Scott Bieker officiating. Interment followed the funeral service at the Burdett Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 510 Lincoln Street, Otis, CO 80743. Baucke Funeral Home directed the arrangements.
