Cyrilla M. Meis

Cyrilla M. Meis was born August 28, 1916 to Conrad F. and Anna (Bueltel) Meis in Elgin Nebraska.  She passed away December 22, 2017 at the age of 101 years and 4 months.  Cyrilla was able to live at home, except for the last 6 months of her life, because of the excellent care given by her sister, Edith.

When Cyrilla was 6 months old, the family moved by train, to the farm south of Yuma.  She attended school in Yuma.  Cyrilla moved to Denver to work at Gates Rubber Company, then upon returning home she helped on the family farm with the raising of cattle, hogs, chickens, grains and the garden.  Her love was growing flowers and sharing them with family and friends.  In later years she was a substitute Mail Carrier on the Sullivan and Joes routes.  Cyrilla was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church and the Alter and Rosary Society.  In 2016 the Centennial Farm Designation was awarded to Cyrilla and Edith’s farm.   Cyrilla was proud to be a part of the farm history for 100 years.  Cyrilla was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Leo, Clatus, Raymond and Norbert, nieces Kathleen and Cecilia and great-niece Crystal.  She is survived by her sister Edith and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cyrilla’s gentle way will be missed by her family and friends.

Rosary was held December 26, 2017 and funeral mass was December 27, 2017 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Yuma, Colorado, with Father Jonathan Dellinger officiating.  Interment was at Yuma Cemetery.   Baucke Funeral Home directed the service.  Memorials may be made to the Yuma Museum.
