Clair Pillard, age 89, died August 30th, 2019 in Brush Colorado surrounded by his loving family.
Clair was born to Paul and Bessie Pillard in Holyoke Co. on April 3rd, 1930.
Clair grew up in the farming community helping his parents. On June 22, 1952 he married Ruth A. Hiatt from Imperial Nebraska. They eventually acquired land to farm of their own south of Haxtun Co. until they moved into town in 1971. Clair worked at various places throughout the years to include the Paoli grain elevator, his own automotive repair shop, and the Phillips County road and bridge department. Between 1978 and 1983 he held the office of Sheriff of Phillips County. Clair enjoyed many hobbies. He loved to fish, golf, and bowl. He had a strong interest in antique tractors, cars and trucks. Clair also loved to collect old coins. But more importantly, it was very obvious he loved to farm, and he rarely missed a day at coffee with his “Buddies.” Clair was a loving husband and dedicated father to four children.
Clair is survived by his children, Stan (Barb) from Brush Co, daughter Beckie Hogan from Sterling Co, son Todd (Rhonda) from Greeley Co, sisters Eva Callon from Colorado Springs Co, Delores Barker from Wray Co, and many grand and great-grand children. Clair is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter at birth Carla, son Randy, brothers Delton, Ray, Merle, Norval, Sterling, and grandson Shane.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 5th, at 10:30 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church 400 N Colorado Avenue, Haxtun CO. Burial service to follow at the Haxtun Cemetery.
