Arnitta Belle (Balderston) Mumm

Arnitta Belle (Balderston) Mumm was born September 12, 1933 in Yuma, Colorado to Clyde and Katherine (Schwabauer) Balderston, the third of four children.  Arnitta graduated Yuma Union High School in 1951.  She married Dennis Lyle Mumm, the love of her life and high school sweetheart, on July 18, 1954.  To this union was born Linda, Susan, and Vicky.  She passed away on December 6, 2018 surrounded by her family at Yuma Life Care Center. 

Following high school, Arnitta worked at Yuma Steam Laundry while waiting for Dennis to return from the Korean War while serving in the Army.  After her marriage, she became a skilled seamstress that allowed her to be a housewife and raise her daughters.  She was very creative and made all of her daughter’s clothes, quilts, and would also sew or tailor for the community.  Arnitta was an active, lifetime member of the American Legion Axillary and served as President and Treasurer for several years.  Additionally, she liked playing cards, bingo, bowling, and golfing in her spare time.  Dennis and Arnitta also enjoyed traveling with their daughters visiting family and sightseeing having visited 44 states.  Over the years, she enjoyed watching any events or activities in which her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated.

Arnitta will be missed by her loving family and numerous friends.  She will be remembered by her husband of 64 years, Dennis; and their daughters, Linda (Richard) Johnson of Gays Mills, Wisconsin; Vicky (Bill) Glanz of Otis; son-in-law, Eddie Baughman of Sterling; sister, Darlene (Jack) Williams; grandchildren, Jeremy (Denise) Johnson; Allison (Mike) Boyes; Ryan Baughman; Shannon (Mark) Brady; Daniel (Krista) Glanz; Jaret (Kathi) Glanz; and Nathan Glanz; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Arnitta is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Katherine Balderston; daughter, Susan Baughman; granddaughter, Lisa; great-granddaughter, Myanna; brother, Gerald; sister, Delores Luellen; and brother-in-law, Jed Luellen.

The memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma, Colorado with Pastor Jamie Fiorino.  Baucke Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Lastly, the family would like to thank everyone at the Yuma Life Care Center for all of their wonderful comfort during Arnitta’s time spent with them.
