Sharon Renee Thompson was born on April 19, 1957 to Donald Duane Scheid and Gay Carroll (Redding) Scheid in Denver, Colorado.  Sharon passed away on August 8, 2016 in Holyoke, Colorado after a three year battle with cancer.

Sharon attended school in Golden, Colorado and Julesburg, Colorado graduating in 1975.  She also received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Regis University.

Sharon’s father was a herdsman for several registered Hereford breeders in Colorado.  Through that, Sharon developed a love for the ranch life.  Sharon, along with her brothers, showed cattle and she served as the Colorado-Wyoming Polled Hereford Queen in 1975.

Sharon was married to Ronald Thompson on March 5, 1977 in Brighton, Colorado.  Sharon and Ronald made their home on the Thompson family ranch southeast of Holyoke, Colorado.  To this union, they were blessed with a daughter, Courtney, and a son, Casey.

Sharon worked in the administration at the Holyoke School District for over 30 years, most of those years as Director of Budget and Finance.  This was especially meaningful to her as she was part of the education process of hundreds of students.  She also served on several school district financial committees at the Colorado state level.  Additionally, she served on the East Phillips County Hospital Board and was very proud to have been one of the members to help dedicate a new hospital to the community in 2008.  Sharon was a devoted supporter of education and youth in the community including school organizations, community organizations, Phillips County 4-H, Phillips County Fair and youth rodeo events.

Sharon truly loved the ranch life and being outdoors.  Even when ill of recent, Sharon would still insist on helping sort cattle.  She was an avid collector of Fiesta dishes and Bev Doolittle prints.  She also enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and gardening.

The highlight of her life the last few years was her grandson, Cooper, and his athletic endeavors.  “Grandma” did not miss many of Cooper’s athletic games.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Ronald Thompson of Holyoke; daughter, Courtney and husband Clinton Vance of Commerce City, Colorado; son, Casey Thompson of Holyoke; one grandson, Cooper Vance of Commerce City, Colorado.  She is also survived by step-mother, Florence Scheid of Pueblo; brother, Terry Scheid and wife Brenda of Rye, Colorado; brother, Scott Scheid and wife Nancy of Montrose, Colorado; brother, Robert Scheid and wife Lorinda of Pueblo, Colorado; step-brother, Mike McConnell and wife Sheryl of Berthoud, Colorado; step-brother, Bill McConnell of Denver, Colorado; step-brother, John McConnell and wife Shayla of New Mexico; step-brother, Billy McConnell of California; step-brother, Jim McConnell and wife Chris of Littleton, Colorado; uncle, Paul Scheid and wife Regina of Brighton, Colorado; aunt, Pauline Ferguson and husband Don of Northglenn, Colorado; aunt, Nancy Ickes and husband Bill of Colorado Springs, Colorado; aunt, Laverne Wallace of California; aunt, Jennifer Scheid of Ft.
