Richard John McCallum was born June 14, 1939 to Clarence John and Julia Ellen (Ziermer) McCallum in Venango, Nebraska.  He grew up with three brothers, six sisters, two half-brothers and one half-sister.  He passed at his home in Holyoke, Colorado on December 16, 2015 at the age of 76. 

Richard married Joyce Darlene Morrison on January 17, 1964 in Holyoke, Colorado.  To this union six children were born, Michael, Darlene, Madelaine, Elaine Glen and Gary. Richard and Joyce shared fifty-one years of marriage together. 

Richard was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved gardening, woodworking, and arrowhead hunting.  He loved being outdoors and caring for livestock and animals.  He was well-known for his fence building.  He was an active sponsor of 4-H and FFA. 

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Clarenc and Julia McCallum; sisters, Virginia McCallum, Margie May McCallum, Shirley Hagemann and Cathy Fisch; brothers, Charles McCallum and Joe McCallum; grandson, Jordan Mahnke; half-brother, Ed McCallum. 

Richard is survived by his wife, Joyce McCallum; his children, Michael McCallum of Haxtun, Colorado; Darlene and Bruce Mahnke of Haxtun, Colorado; Madelaine and Jeff Lamm of Holyoke, Colorado; Elaine and Gene Daly of Glendo, Wyoming; Glen and Ranae McCallum of Holyoke, Colorado and Gary and Andrea McCallum of Holyoke, Colorado along with eighteen grandchildren; brother, Don McCallum and wife, Cathy of Lodgepool, Nebraska; sisters, Phyllis Dobbins of Fort Collins, Colorado and Merna Olsen of Holyoke, Colorado; half brother, Clarence of Echo Oregon and half-sister, LaVaughn De Petro of Littleton, Colorado along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

A Memorial Service will be held on January 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Holyoke, Colorado.  Memorials can be given in Richard’s name and sent to the Holyoke Community Federal Credit Union.  Services are being directed by Baucke Funeral Home of Holyoke.
