Leona Mae Christianson
April 8, 1931 ~ January 27, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years OldThe beautiful and vibrant Leona Mae Christianson was born April 8, 1931 to E. Wray and Gussie Courtney in their home in Wray, co. Leona met Don and loved to dance. So did Don. They danced their way into each other’s heart and Leona became a Christianson. Their moves were smooth as licorice and other dancers, so enthralled, were compelled to stop and watch. Leona and her twin sister Leora were also serious Elvis fans. She adored Engleburt Humperdink, Il Divo and their music was part of her soul.
Her three children, Dennis Christianson, Linda King and Sandra Wilson were raised on the ranch. In 1976 Leona and Don bought a second home in Denver but Leona's love was always living on the ranch where she returned to permanently live in the late 1970’s after her divorce. The ranch was sold in 2002 and she moved to Yuma where she enjoyed her many friends.
Leona was a soft spoken person with a heart tender - enough to love of all those around her and big enough to receive their love in return. Leona was also a sharing, caring, gentle and generous mother, beloved by her family and endeared by her friends. Her quiet voice always seemed to carry a light melody when she spoke that made one want to listen more closely. She loved to visit and chat especially around loving family and friends and her smile always matched the twinkle in her eyes.
She leaves behind her son, Dennis Christianson and wife Kathy, her two daughters, Linda King, Sandee Wilson, her grandchildren, Lori Hoffner and husband Gary, Tyson King and wife Shonda, Brooke Binder and husband Brian, Summer Westerbur, Travis King and wife Lyndsey and her five great grandchildren, Spencer Dressel, Joslyn King, Parker Dressel, Jacob King and Kade Westerbur as well as her sister in law, Mary Courtney whom she called her 'sisters in love'.
Her bright light will now be shining upon us from the heavens above.
