Calvin L. Adams, of Sterling Colorado, was born September 17, 1934 in Imperial, Nebraska and passed away on August 1, 2015 in Sterling, Colorado. Calvin was born to Herbert Adams and Velma Cranwell Adams. He attended school in Imperial, Nebraska until 9th grade, when he made the decision to leave school to help support his family by working farm jobs in the region.

Calvin Married Valetta Gaunt on December 25, 1953. Calvin worked many different jobs in his life time. During the beginning of Calvin and Valetta’s marriage; he worked in Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska in heavy equipment road construction. After leaving construction he began working at the United States Air Force site in Colorado Springs. Once he finished working for the Air Force, he begun a career in truck driving; where he worked for many different companies from 1958 to 1969. In 1970, Calvin left the truck driving career path and begun working as a cowboy at 20 Bar Ranch. After working for 20 Bar Ranch for a good amount of time Calvin and his family moved to Wyoming to continue his career only to once again return to Colorado to work at New Raymer. Once back in Colorado he moved to Sterling and became the groundskeeper at the Logan County Fairgrounds. In 1979, Calvin moved to Yuma to work at Wards Feedlot until 1986. In 1986 he moved North of Wray to work as a maintainer operator until 1997.

At the age of 63 Calvin retired to spend quality time with his family. In 2002, Calvin’s first wife Veletta passed away. After spending time with his family Calvin moved to Fleming, Colorado where he met his second wife LaVanda Snoody. Calvin and LaVanda finally settled down in Sterling, Colorado.

Calvin Adams is now joining his Wife Veletta Gaunt Adams and his only son Rick Adams in Heaven. Rick Adams, the oldest of the Adams bunch was married to Pam from Haxtun, Colorado.  Surviving Calvin is 6 daughters, 23 grandchildren, and 50 great grandchildren. The oldest sister Vicky Horton is married to Rocky and currently resides in Lone Star, Colorado.  Vicky is followed by Christy Ludeman; who currently resides in Hiram, Georgia. Next in the Adams bunch is Sherry Donnelly who married to retired Sergeant First Class Donald Donnelly; they currently reside in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Following Sherry is Donna Zwirn who is married to Willy; they currently reside in Sterling, Colorado. After Donna we have Ronda Everest who resides in Boron, California. The last child is Teresa Wood who is married to Lance; they currently reside in Yuma, Colorado. 

The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke, Colorado with Pastor Max Hines officiating.  There will be a private family inurnment in the Holyoke Cemetery in Holyoke, Colorado on August 12, 2015 at 9:00 a.m.  Baucke Funeral Home directed the service. 

on to traveling in the US, they traveled to Canada, Europe and the Panama Canal.   They had many boxes of slides from their trips!  Burldeen also enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting afghans, reading, scrapbooking and taking art lessons.

Burldeen was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll; her parents Burl and Dorothy; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Gladys Phillips; sister Geraldine Stephens and great-grandchild, Ian Campbell.  She is survived by daughters Carol Ann Cochran and husband Ralph of Greeley, Colorado, and Sharon Wilshusen of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandchildren, Stacy Cochran and wife Michele of Lamar, Nebraska; Keli Campbell and husband Anthony of Evans, Colorado and Nicole Wilshusen Nguyen and husband Phuong of Ft. Collins, Colorado; great-grandchildren Roper, Kassidy, Triston and Ali Cochran; Seth and Isaiah Campbell; Claire and Ella Nguyen; brother Dale Kirchenschlager and wife Betty along with many nieces, nephew and friends.

The funeral service was held at the Yuma United Methodist Church on July 30 2015 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jaime Nieves officiating.  Interment followed at the Yuma Cemetery.  Arrangements were made by Baucke Funeral Home.
